The Beast Of The Flesh
God calls it Satan, while man calls it ego. We in His League of True Love call it, the instinctual, egocentric self, that makes YOU your own worst enemy and stains (marks) your character, with its characteristic pride, vanity, envy, selfishness, ambition, lust, greed, desire for creature comfort and fear for survival.
My ex-wife, is as usual, running from pillar to post and going through a lot of drama. She said to me, "I'm sick of people throwing everything back in my face!"
My response was, "Well, you know the solution for that, don't you? Stop putting your face in front of theirs."
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness (virtuousness) with lawlessness (unvirtuousness)? And what communion has light with darkness?2 Corinthians 6:14
I know the person she was referring to in particular and told her, "Nobody can change your nature, but you! And even then, it's not so much you, that changes your nature, but the influence of the nature (life) that surrounds you (influence rubs off), and how and when you respond to it. Of course he's that way, because his ego is so high and mighty, and its characteristic pride is so strong in presence and density, it's a very thick, stone wall of obstinacy, defiance and stubbornness. It's not in his nature to change, because while he likes to think of himself as a strong man, he hasn't got it in him to change for his own sake and the highest good of all."
She said, "What's their problem? I go out of my way for them! It's not right, how they talk and behave toward me!"
What could I say? I said, "He doesn't say or do the right (virtuous) thing, because the characteristics of true love's divine nature, are not in his character. And so he has no TRUE love, for himself, let alone anyone else. It's not in his nature."
First, you want to know, who you are. Then, when you understand your self, that is, the instinctual, egocentric nature of your flesh, and have overcome every spot of its characteristic pride, vanity, envy, selfishness, ambition, lust, greed, desire for creature comfort and fear for survival and every blemish of worldly cares, concerns, desires, hopes and dreams, that's sprung from the instinctual, egocentric (sinful) nature of man, then you seek the true way of life, that's free from the beast of the flesh (ego), and that journey, through many trials, tribulations, revelations, visions, supernatural encounters and humiliations, leads you to the fruit of the true nature of your soul, your heart of heart's, which is the absolutely perfect gentleman or gentlewoman of true love, a saint by any other name, who's every thought comes from the divine nature of absolute, undying, true love and is expressed in their words and deeds, with virtuous majesty.
Man gathers knowledge. Knowledge needs understanding to grow into wisdom and wisdom leads to the truth, the way and the life (true way of life), that's within you, deep, deep down in your heart of heart's (soul), that you deep, deep, down, dream of becoming. The perfect you, you glimpse of yourself, through the glass darkly.
Can you possibly imagine the civilization that would come to life, if everyone simply got over themselves and lived the truth, the way and the life (true way of life), with/in/for absolute, undying, true love, with all their heart, mind, body and soul (absolutely), according to true love's majestic holiness, peacefulness, gracefulness and graciousness, with absolute humility, equanimity, cooperativeness and joy, without a care in the world, like a little child-at-heart, though far from childish?
Hmmm... Heavenly bliss... beyond the shadow of any doubt and everyone's wildest imagination.
Crying shame really, that in the fulfillment of scripture (Luke 14:16-24), everyone with one accord, instinctively and egocentrically, resists and turns away from God's invitation (will), He gave me to deliver, to do just that! Oh dear, how sad, never mind... There's just no getting past the stone wall of pride. Only you can take down that wall, not me, with humility, boldness, commitment, consideration, courage, courtesy, dignity, flexibility, honesty, honor and integrity, etc. In other words, not by talking about it, but by applying the virtuous fruits (characteristics) of true love's divine nature, in yours. Neither I or anyone else can make you change, if you're not ready, willing or able to!
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness (virtuousness) of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace (gracefulness & graciousness) and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God (absolute love) and of Jesus our Lord (role model), as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who CALLED US BY GLORY AND VIRTUE, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that THROUGH THESE you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (and other characteristics of the instinctual, egocentric [sinful] nature).2 Peter 1:1-4
Let those who have it in their nature to hear and see beyond their own little world of self, get the bigger picture.

TRUTHFULNESS
lion-like characteristic
Truthfulness is being honest in your words and actions. You don't tell lies even to defend yourself. Don't listen to gossip or prejudice. See the truth for yourself. Don't try to be more than you are to impress others. Be true to yourself, who, what, why and how you truly are, in your heart of hearts.
The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.Proverbs 12:19
