The Professor
So likewise, WHOEVER OF YOU does not forsake all that he has, cannot be (IS NOT) My disciple."Luke 14:33
Those who can, do, those who can't, teach...
Have you noticed how the church is like a school, with the teacher up the front and all the students in the pews? Well, you just have a think about it.
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.1 Timothy 1:5-7
The false prosperity gospel, is a prime example...
You're meant to get discouraged with the halfway house (church) and want more than it can offer. Because the furthest anyone can go in the halfway house, is halfway. It's purpose is to make you a disciple. That is, make you ready to be one, by building you up with courage, faith and trust in God, to go beyond it, forsake all and walk the narrow path, to be cleansed (debrainwashed) of every spot of the characteristic pride, vanity, envy, selfishness, ambition, lust, greed, desire for creature comfort and fear for survival, of the instinctual, egocentric nature of your flesh, along with every blemish of worldly cares, concerns, desires, hopes and dreams, that all have their roots in it.
Why do the tares throw a hissy fit, when people decide it's time to leave the church? Because they're stuck on the fence and too blinded, deceived, governed and ruled by their instincts and ego, to do it themselves. Though you need to know, leaving the church and staying in your comfort zone, is going backwards.
"Woe to you lawyers (tares)! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered."Luke 11:52
